ㅤGraduation Thesisㅤ"Composition and Decomposition of the Arcane via runic characters used in precursor civilizations: A codification of proto-synthesis and proto-desynthesis, using alchemy fundamentals in magical and non-magical arts through Aetherological foundations."(Bring it up in conversation at your own risk... He will go on a rant. For a while.)

ㅤPersonalityㅤExudes a calm aura, always wearing a solemn, somewhat saddened expression when he's alone. When someone's nearby or interacting with him, it slowly evolves into a calm, warm smile. Percevaint has a keen mind and attention to detail that have helped him getting far in life, allowing to develop a resourceful, highly adaptable mindset. He's always trying to find solutions, even for the smallest of conundrums. His patience is capable to outweigh most of things... And people. When it comes to work, Percevaint is a very industrious individual: he rarely does something that lacks purpose.

ㅤBackgroundㅤComing from a long line of scholars, Percevaint graduated from the Studium at age 22 after pursuing a mention in Aetherology, among other subjects, staying post-graduation to help in many research efforts. His first calling he found within the field of research and exploration, offering his skills to the gleaners guildship. Percevaint got to know most of Etheirys' cultures and locations across the years, documenting all of his findings. After "paying his dues" in a scholarly context, Sharlayan's demand for gleaners decreased drastically (in this star at least) leaving him with... A lot of free time to think about how to serve Sharlayan with the best of his capabilities. After a whole year of pondering his options...Percevaint found his true calling in life: to help others in the pursuit of knowledge by teaching. Using both personal and family resources, he helps students and fellow scholars around the star in any way he could to see their projects succeed to this very day. Because... Why not? With plenty of free time in his hands and a Star to explore still, and many other interesting topics to learn about... It was the only logical path to take.

These hooks are listed from easiest to hardest to pull off.
ㅤThe Studiumㅤ Phenomenon is quite the big building, and many go through its wide halls. It wouldn't have been that hard to run into someone that went in and out for years, like he did, or would it? As a student, as a worker... And just because. Whether you deem him a landmark, or an eyesore... He was there.ㅤOn The Moveㅤ - If there was a corner on which an investigator could fit into to pursue knowledge in the name of its preservation, then reminding him of a fateful encounter you shared could make for a good excuse to get Percevaint talking. He's been everywhere. Literally. For any random reason you can think of.ㅤRetired Gleanerㅤ - They say that knowledge maketh gleaner. Well... That, or an absurd amount of time and energy to go from place A to B either in a wild goose chase or in a methodical way of tracking down an objective. Experiences and methods of gathering knowledge throughout the years were crucial to give him a chance to be anointed as a faculty member.ㅤTeachingㅤ - His calling in life, after dedicating the better part of two decades to roam the Star, was found back in the Studium as a faculty member. Always ready and willing to give a lecture on his favorite subjects: Aetherology and Applied Aetherology. His guilty pleasure, however, are the cantrips: anything from the most mundane way to make a book levitate and follow him, to the flashiest ones a spellcaster can think of.
ㅤNastily Exhausting Lectures and Testsㅤ - The student body in Phenomenon loves to whisper and comment on what they deem matters of interest, or topics they'd rather avoid. Percevaint's terribly long and insufferable lectures are centered around Aetherology and basic spellcasting, core subjects in many courses offered in the Studium. Many would rather avoid the extra homework and what he deems as "optional reading material" (that is never truly optional) Others, however, welcome the challenge and dare to attend his courses. None, on the other hand, understand why does he make of Aetherology something so terrible, academically speaking.ㅤPublished Authorㅤ - A few of his works and revisions on colleagues' papers are available to whoever visits The Noumenon. The topics centered around those works are always a good way to start a conversation, and a terrible way to get trapped in a chat that might extend itself for a while about everything and nothing. His favourite thing to do, however, is finding new topics to write on through meeting new people or revisiting places. Percevaint's latest project involves a guide written for all new -and current- citizens of Sharlayan for them to learn more about the nation's culture, institutions, and goals.ㅤAmused by Wanderlustㅤ - Adventurers with stories to share, and above all, those who have their references in check to back it all up, will have Percevaint fascinated by the prospect of learning about a new tale he can share with others. Good deeds and interesting finds must always be shared, but most importantly (in his eyes) ... Documented. Beware, however, of going into braggadocious territory... You'll find him either entertaining someone just to see how deep into the pits of public ignominy they can sink themselves into... Or walking out after politely declining to interact. Maybe both, in no particular order.
ㅤThe Most Ancient House of Surgateㅤ - Many Sharlayan throughout history belonged to House Surgate, and twice that amount, scattered around different family branches. Percevaint's branch was responsible for providing leyline infrastructure for aetheryte travel, and a few landmarks around the former Isle of Val. That, until the place disappeared in a strange but widely known incident, taking many lives in the process... Among them, the better part of their members. Very few of Percevaint's branch were spared of such fate.ㅤLegacy of Magiㅤ - Tradition and family ties have bestowed upon him, the not-so-enviable labor of keeping knowledge behind closed doors. Such a burden he refuses to accept to this very day... Since it involves becoming the head of his family branch. To preserve and continue a scholarly legacy, old as time, and purposedly intrincate, going against his own life goals.ㅤUbiquityㅤ - The first question that might come to mind when encountering him could be one along the lines of why is he here or where did he come from. Impeccable timing. Always running into you by chance. In the corner of your eye. Or seeing him from afar in a bustling crowd inside a big city. Isn't it a bit too much for a curious person to be that omnipresent, while you're trying to mind your own business?

ㅤThe Writerㅤ
Hi there! The name's [redacted] and I'm Percevaint's writer. EN/SP speaker, always happy to make new acquaintances and gaming buddies.ㅤScheduleㅤ
Here's a disclaimer: I love long-term writing, but I've grown to be a bit "slow-to-start" about it for many reasons I don't mind sharing in a talk if it comes up. More than happy to try and create stories together, but to talk schedules and times, let's take it easy at first!ㅤRP Prefences - Topicsㅤ
Different topics are to be discussed. before writing together. Percevaint, however, will not take part in Romance/ERP topics. Out of respect for my partner, those two topics I will not write. Failing to understand this simple request, will have me cutting all contact.ㅤRP Prefences - Charactersㅤ
I have many thoughts on what lorebending and lorebreaking characters really are. I'd like to have a small chat to clarify those points and to define how much lore can be bent for my roleplaying taste. This set of preferences can give you a better idea: The Crystal RuleㅤRP Preferences - Pacingㅤ
When it comes to pacing: long scenes are awesome if they happen naturally! But... Roleplaying non-stop in the period of a week or two is a bit too much. So please, don't rush! Unless you need to because of time constraints. If so, then tell me beforehand.ㅤLanguagesㅤ
My main language is Spanish, but I always try my best with English as a second language. Sometimes, however, I will get lost in translation, or express myself in somewhat of an awkward/strange way when trying to convey an idea or two, ending up being something that I probably did not mean. Please keep this in mind!ㅤContact Infoㅤ
- Discord, yes... But let's talk for a while and write a scene or two first. If there's something you'd like to know about rules, boundaries, preferred themes and overall roleplaying etiquette, I would rather talk about it than finding out as a ""surprise"". Putting that same list that everyone has won't tell me anything. Knowing you, fellow writer, will tell me all I need to know in due time. You're free to check https://rphub.co/ch/773 as well to contact me, but the info's mostly the same that you can find here.......ㅤRP ETIQUETTEㅤ... Yeah. If you were expecting to read the usual "IC is not OOC" or the "I'm not my character keep separate... yadda yadda" stuff... You won't find it here, since it's almost redundant to explain between so many experienced people in RP all around, right...?.... R i g h t?

(This section is meant to have some real documents based on actual lore references and material with slight lore-expanding details merely for RP flavor and to give him some fun, interactive hooks to play around. Expect them soon!)

Those who meddle with forbidden magicks, be them citizens of Sharlayan or foreigners, will know all too well about the Forum's reach around the star.Operatives sent from the Motherland to protect and preserve knowledge obtained by its many Scholars that have lived through the ages. The violation of Sharlayan's most sacred rules by using its arts to harm others or to seek personal profit, might put some in the sights of the most unlikely of individuals to enforce them.

Percevaint's informed professions are but a facade to his true line of work, that places him in specific locations around the star. His presence comes as inconspicuously natural, having him in the vicinity of whoever or whatever might be deemed a hazard towards Sharlayan's politics, or events that might affect the general populace's life caused by Sharlayan's knowledge, directly or indirectly.
Among the many possible responsibilities of a Forum Operative, Percevaint navigates around the following:- Documentation, monitoring, and briefing the nation of Sharlayan on relevant events across the Star- Fugitive Sharlayan citizens with a capture warrant to be placed in the Dark Cells- Warden duties: vigilance of sentenced citizens on probation periods- Management of outlaw magi in unauthorized posession of Sharlayan assets and/or knowledge- Repossession of ill-begotten and/or misused Sharlayan assets/knowledge- Reparation of environmental hazards caused by magical phenomena of Sharlayan origin
These are possible hooks for characters that meet the criteria mentioned above to have an ongoing link/hook involving Sharlayan at some degree.
The content beyond this point contains major spoilers for this character’s story.
None of the information within may be used IC under any circumstances unless explicitly discussed and approved by me OOC first.
